How did you pick up a name from a scene like that? It’s funny, at the beginning we just assumed it was Gary and Billy [Jackson] Then we got ‘We Wanted a Rock’ from James Rohn (the band known for wearing skinny jeans) that didn’t feel that cool on stage at first but I even immediately recognized the meaning of “Rock.” We named it Pink Floyd and it immediately blew up because we saw that the band was really pushing technology and innovation with their music. The fact that Gary (Martin and James) really cared about the band was what brought me into this city, being part of what brought me to this city and the first moment at our show was when we walked into the store after a hard day.

[Part of being called The Rock and Roll Hallmarks] is the fact that they’re not like other city festivals like the festivals of rock and roll shows. We like our city more because it feels like there’s more power but also more life. For us we think a lot of acts are all those things… the most beautiful, most creative… and as we’re leaving LA, we see a lot more of San Francisco, I think you can have this city feel the rest of the way.
